You can show related products in the You May Also Like section that appears on a product details page and at checkout in your Lightspeed eCom (E-Series). The section includes product cards preview with a name, image, price and label if any.

You have three options for what to display as related items for each product:

• Specific products
• Random products from the catalog or a specific category
• Both specific and random products

Displaying related products to customers makes it easier for them to discover new products and encourages them to add more items to the order.

Assigning specific products as related

You can show either complementary items or similar items at a higher price as Related. For example, you own a coffee shop and sell coffee beans. To cross-sell, you can show mugs, coffee makers, or cookies as Related products to coffee beans. To upsell, you can show more expensive coffee beans as Related products. In both cases, you will need to set the Related products manually.

To add specific related products to the You May Also Like section:

1. From your Retail POS (X-Series), open your eCom admin by navigating to Online > Overview > Go to eCom (E-Series).

   

2. Go to Catalog > Products:

   

3. Select a product and switch to the Related Products tab:
   
   
4. If you haven't set up related products for this item in your eCome store before, click Enable (after this five random products will be assigned from the eCom catalog — remove them to have only manually selected related items for this product).
5. Click + Add Products.
6. Select items that you want to show as related.
7. (optional) Tick the Link back selected items as related to this product option if you want to cross-link the product with its related products so that it appears on their pages, too.
8. Click Add Products.
9. Click Save.

After you assign related products, you can choose where to display the You May Also Like section.

Assigning random products as related

You can set your store to display random items from the entire catalog or from a specific category as related products in your eCom store. Let’s say you own a coffee shop and want to cross-sell by displaying related items for each coffee bean. You can choose to show random items from the Home Cookies category as related to coffee beans.

To add random related products to the You May Also Like section:

1. From your Retail POS, open your eCom admin by navigating to Online > Overview > Go to eCom (E-Series).
2. Go to Catalog > Products.
3. Select a product and switch to the Related Products tab:
   
   
4. If you haven't set up related products for this item before, click Enable (after this five random products will be assigned from the eCom catalog — you can proceed to step 7 to set them up further).
5. Click + Add Products.

6. Tick the 5 random products from the catalog option:

   

7. To change how many items to show, or specify the category, click Change the category or the number of products.

8. To change the number of products that you want to show as related in the Number of items field, enter how many products you want to display:

   

9. Choose the product category from the dropdown.
   If you check All products for the category, your store will show randomly selected products from your entire catalog.
10. Click Apply.
11. (optional) Tick the Link back selected items as related to this product option if you want to cross-link the product with its related products so that it appears on their pages, too.
12. Click Add Products.
13. Click Save.

To speed up adding random products as related, use the Mass Update tool in your eCom store.

After you assign related products, you can choose where to display the You May Also Like section.

Assigning both specific and random products as related

You can assign certain items as related, while also showing random items from a specific category or catalog. For example, you own a pet-friendly coffee shop. While you cross-assigned coffee beans for cross-selling, you may also assign dog treats as related items for the coffee beans. This encourages customers to buy complementary products for their pets. 

To add both specific and random items as related products to the You May Also Like section in your eCom store:

1. From your Retail POS, open your eCom admin by navigating to Online > Overview > Go to eCom (E-Series).
2. Go to Catalog > Products.
3. Select a product and switch to the Related Products tab:
   
4. If you haven't set up related products for this item before, click Enable (after this five random products will be assigned from the eCom catalog — you can proceed to step 7 to set them up further).
5. Click + Add Products.
6. Tick the 5 random products from catalog option.
7. (optional) To specify the category or how many items to display in the You May Also Like section, click Change the category or the number of products and select the category and/or change the number of displayed items. Then click Apply.
8. (optional) Tick the Link back selected items as related to this product option if you want to cross-link the product with its related products so that it appears on their pages, too.
9. Now select specific products from the list. 
10. Click Add Products.
11. Click Save.

After you assign related products, you can choose where to display the You May Also Like section.

Displaying Related products

You can show related items on the product details page and at checkout in your eCom online store at the same time. Alternatively, you can show related items only on the product details page.

When you display related products at checkout, customers will see the You May Also Like section as soon as they open their shopping cart. If a customer adds multiple items to their cart, each having its own set of related products, your store will display a mix of related products associated with each individual item in the cart.

You can also enable the "Order confirmation with related products" automated email to display related products in all customer order confirmation emails. For products that don't have related products assigned, your eCom store will pick random related products.

To choose where to show related products:

1. Link products to each other to create related products using one of the above instructions.
2. In your Retail POS, go to Online > Settings.
3. In the General tab, go to Cart & Checkout.
4. Scroll to the Related products section.
5. Click the dropdown menu to select where to show related products:

Removing items from Related products

When you remove products from related, they are no longer displayed in the You May Also Like section.

Instead of removing items, you can stop displaying the You May Also Like section at checkout, making the section appear only on the product details page in your eCom store.

To disable Related products:

1. From your Retail POS, open your eCom admin by navigating to Online > Overview > Go to eCom (E-Series).
2. Go to Catalog > Products.
3. Select the product for which you would like to remove related products.
4. Click on the Related Products tab.
5. Click the trash icon near the product that you no longer want to appear in the related items.
6. Click Save.
