Mass updating products in Lightspeed eCom

When you sell online with Lightspeed eCom, your Retail POS is the source of truth for your products. That means, any changes you make in POS will reflect in eCom. 

There are also online-specific settings that can be managed from your eCom admin. You can edit products in bulk from eCom admin. For example, when you want to change out of stock behavior, add related products, manage categories, and so on. Saved changes take effect immediately in your online store and sync across all your sales channels if you have any (such as Facebook, Amazon marketplace, and such).

Using Bulk Product Editor in eCom

The Bulk Product Editor allows you to perform multiple changes to many products and product variations at a time. You can edit most product properties, including images, shipping settings, categories, etc. Product info is presented in a tabular form which makes the mass editing process fast and easy and very similar to working in a spreadsheet.

Using Mass Update for editing products in eCom

The Mass Update tool allows you to instantly update products along with their variations by applying the same change to all the selected items. For example, if you want to temporarily disable seasonable items or you want to raise prices by 5% to cover your expenses.

To update products with Mass Update:

  1. In Retail POS, navigate to OnlineOverview, scroll down and click Go to eCom (E-Series).
  2. From your eCom admin, go to Catalog → Products.
  3. Tick all the products you want to update. Click Filter in the upper left corner to use filters and make the search faster. For example, if you want to apply the change to a certain store category.
  4. Click Mass Update:

  5. In the dropdown menu, choose what you want to change.
  6. Make your changes.

The changes to all the selected products and their variations will be saved automatically.

Updating products with export and import

One more way to update several products at a time is by using export and import. You can export the products you want to change, edit their data in a spreadsheet, and then re-upload them to your store with import. The import tool allows you to save yourself a lot of time, and you don't need any advanced technical skills to use it.

Please note that some online-specific product details can be updated only via the eCom import-export tool. You can access the eCom Import tool from the Catalog → Data import and export page in eCom admin.
