Redeeming Loyalty in store and online

  • Available on Pro, Advanced, Enterprise
  • Available on Core, Plus

You can offer a Loyalty program that allows customers to earn points when making purchases. Customers can then redeem their points in person and online with eCom (E-Series). It's important to note:

  • Retail POS will adjust the customer's Loyalty balance if you void or process a return for sales made in store.
  • Loyalty does not adjust automatically for voids or returns made online and must be adjusted manually.
  • Customers can redeem their Loyalty balance for purchases made in store and online if you use eCom (E-Series) for your online store.
  • For online redeeming, you can set the minimum Loyalty balance that customers need to reach before they can redeem their Loyalty points online.

Redeeming Loyalty in store

  1. Navigate to Sell > Sell.
  2. Add products and add the customer to the sale.
  3. Click Pay.Retail POS Sell screen with items and customer attached.
  4. If the customer has a Loyalty balance, the amount available to redeem is displayed under their details.Customer's loyalty balance.
  5. Enter the amount of Loyalty to redeem in the Amount to pay field, then click Loyalty.

    If the customer has no Loyalty balance or has not signed up for the Loyalty program, the Loyalty payment method will be unavailable. If the Loyalty option is not visible, you may need to reset your Loyalty settings.

  6. If there's a balance left to pay for the sale, enter the amount and select another payment type.
  7. Click Complete Sale.

If your receipt template includes Loyalty, the Loyalty amount your customer has redeemed and earned for a sale will show on the printed or emailed receipt.

Understanding Loyalty with eCom

Once you enable Loyalty in Retail POS, all customers who make purchases in your eCom (E-Series) online store are automatically enrolled in the Loyalty program. They can earn Loyalty on all purchases and redeem Loyalty points online or in-store. 

When your customers earn and redeem Loyalty online, it's important to note:

  • Online orders must be fully paid for online to qualify for Loyalty. Buy online, pick up in-store purchases paid for in-store will not earn Loyalty.
  • Only default Loyalty can be earned online. For example, if your default Loyalty is 2% and a specific item is set to 5%, online purchases will only earn 2% Loyalty. 
  • You can set a minimum Loyalty balance customers need to reach before they can redeem their Loyalty points online.
  • Loyalty does not automatically adjust for voids or returns made online. These must be adjusted manually.
  • Online Loyalty is enabled by default. If you wish to turn off online Loyalty but allow your customers to earn Loyalty in-store, contact Support by clicking Get Help in the top-right corner of your eCom Admin.
  • Loyalty is not supported by third-party eCom integrations (Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce).

Redeeming Loyalty online

Your customers can redeem Loyalty points during checkout in your online store:

  1. To check their Loyalty balance online, a customer must sign into their eCom account from your online store, using the same email address they used when creating an account.
  2. Once logged in, they can view their Loyalty balance under items added to their cart. Loyalty balances are also included in confirmation emails.
  3. If they have enough Loyalty to use for a purchase, they can click Redeem Loyalty beside the amount of Loyalty to apply it to the sale.

    Customers can't choose a custom amount of Loyalty to redeem online. If the total cost is more than the amount of Loyalty the customer has to spend, their whole Loyalty balance will be applied. If the total cost is less than the amount of Loyalty the customer has to spend, only the order total will be deducted from their Loyalty balance.

  4. If the customer decides they don't want to redeem their Loyalty, they can click Undo to remove Loyalty as part of their payment.

  5. The customer can then click Checkout to proceed with their sale as usual. If they have a remaining balance, they will need to choose another payment method to complete the sale. They will only earn Loyalty on the remaining balance after they complete the sale with another online payment method.

Resetting Loyalty settings

If a customer with a Loyalty account has been applied to an in-progress in-store sale and the Loyalty button is not visible, you may need to reset your Loyalty settings:

  1. Navigate to Setup > Loyalty.
  2. Make any change on the Loyalty page to view the Save changes button.
  3. Click Save changes.

  4. If needed, revert your changes.
  5. Click Save changes.

The Sell screen should now display the Loyalty button as a payment option.
