When assisting customers on the shop floor or at checkout using Lightspeed Scanner, staff can view Frequently Bought Together suggestions in the app and add recommended products to the cart to help increase the average number of items sold per transaction.

Frequently Bought Together suggestions are calculated based on previous sales data and a prediction algorithm to automatically generate product recommendations that are most relevant to customers. 

Understanding Frequently Bought Together calculations

Frequently Bought Together suggestions are automatically calculated by the Scanner app every day. The calculation is based on:

• A minimum of 3 sales containing the same products.
• The previous 12 weeks of sales data.
• Predictive modeling information.

Recommendations may not display if:

• Your account is new: New accounts may have to wait up to 1 day before sales data is processed and recommendations are displayed.

• You have limited sales data: Products must be purchased together a minimum of 3 times before a recommendation is surfaced. If recommendations aren't displaying after completing at least 3 sales containing the same products, contact Retail Support.

  

• Products aren't being purchased together: If a product isn't being purchased at the same time as other products, there will be no suggestions to display. After at least 3 purchases of the same products, Frequently Bought Together suggestions will display on the associated Product details pages and when adding those items to the cart.

Recommendations will become available as the amount of sales data increases.

Viewing recommendations and adding products to the cart

Frequently Bought Together recommendations are automatically generated when viewing product details or when checking out a customer on the Sale page.

Currently, recommendations are not available in Retail POS on a computer or iPad and can only be viewed in the Lightspeed Scanner app.

Viewing recommendations and adding products from the Product details page

1. In the Scanner app, click Products.
2. Search for a product and click its name.

3. At the bottom of the page, review the recommendations.

   

4. (Optional) Click the cart icon to add the product to the cart.

Viewing recommendations and adding products from the Sale page

1. In the Scanner app, click Sale.
2. Create a sale and add a product.

3. At the bottom of the page, review the Frequently Bought Together recommendation.

   

4. (Optional) Click the cart icon to add the product to the cart, or click the product name to view more details > Add to cart.

Disabling Frequently Bought Together suggestions

Disabling suggestions on the Sale page

1. Log in to Retail POS on a computer.
2. Navigate to Settings > Outlets and registers.
3. Click the pencil (Edit) icon next to your register.

4. In the Sell settings section, uncheck the Suggest products (Scanner app) box.

   

5. Click Save.

Recommendations can be turned back on at any time by checking this box.

Disabling suggestions on the Product details page

To disable Frequently Bought Together suggestions on the Product details page, contact Retail Support.

Customizing recommendations is not currently available.
