Before you launch your Lightspeed eCom (E-Series) online catalog and store to the public, it is essential to review general settings such as your business name and address, time zone, language, and currency to ensure they are set correctly. This information appears on your website, in your store's email notifications and invoices (if you use them), etc.
You can access the general settings of your business used in eCom by going to the Online tab > Settings > General > Store Profile (or Profile) and to the Online tab > Settings > General > Regional Settings in Retail POS (X-Series).
Business name
The name of your business appears in customer-facing email notifications and in your online store's invoices (if you use them). It is also displayed as the name of your Lightspeed eCom site in the Webstore (or Website) section of the Online tab in Retail POS.
To update the name of your business used in eCom:
- From Retail POS, go to Online > Settings.
- On the General tab, switch to Store Profile (or Profile).
- In the Store name (or Business name) field, enter the name you chose to use for your online catalog and store.
- Save the changes.
You can set or update the business name displayed on your Lightspeed eCom site in the site editor.
Online store's web address (URL)
The online store's web address is a link to the site page where your eCom store is located. This URL is used to form links to products, categories, and other store pages that appear in customer email notifications, on the order history page in customer accounts, in posts shared to social media, etc. The store's URL is also used for the "View Store" and "Open in storefront" links in your eCom admin panel.
You specify online store's web address (URL) only if you use eCom with Ecommerce, to sell products online.
To update the store's web address used in eCom:
- From Retail POS, go to Online > Settings.
- On the General tab, switch to Store Profile.
- Click Edit in the Store's web address (URL) section.

– If you sell on the Lightspeed eCom site (Instant Site), make sure I’m using Instant Site is selected. You can additionally customize the site's URL. Learn more about editing the domain name for your Lightspeed eCom site.
– If you sell on another site platform (for example, WordPress), choose My store is set up elsewhere, then enter the web address of the site page where you’ve added your online store.
To get your store's web address, open your site in a browser, navigate to the page where you’ve added your eCom store, and copy the URL link for this page that you see in the browser’s address bar:
- Save the changes.
Company name and contacts
The name, email, physical address, and phone number of your company are used in your online store's email notifications and invoices. Phone number and email also appear on the Thank you for your Order page that customers see after placing an order in your eCom store.
To specify the company name and contacts for eCom:
- From Retail POS, go to Online > Settings.
- On the General tab, switch to Store Profile (or Profile).
- Fill out the Company name, email address, and phone number and Company address blocks.
- Save the changes.
Social media accounts
Links to your Facebook, Instagram, X, Youtube, Pinterest, or TikTok accounts appear at the bottom of your online store’s email notifications. Providing these links helps keep your customers informed about your news and promotions.
To add links to social media accounts to eCom:
- From Retail POS, go to Online > Settings.
- On the General tab, switch to Store Profile (or Profile).

Scroll down to the Social media accounts section and fill it out:
- Save the changes.
If you use the Lightspeed eCom sitebuilder (Instant Site), you can add links to social media and messengers to your website in the site editor.
Currency
Lightspeed eCom supports all the official currencies, and you can manage the price display format used in your online storefront.
To adjust currency settings for eCom:
- From Retail POS, go to Online > Settings.
- On the General tab, switch to Regional Settings.
- Choose your store currency in the Currency drop-down menu.

Choose the display format for the prices in this currency (it will not affect input fields for prices in your Retail POS or eCom admin panel):
- If you use a non-USD currency, you can specify the conversion rate in case a payment gateway you want to use accepts dollars only or if a shipping service connected to your store doesn't accept your currency but works with USD. Lightspeed will use the entered rate to convert the order total into dollars and send the request to a payment system, or, in case of shipping, it will show the correct actual shipping rate in your store's currency so that your shipping costs coincide with the shipping prices in your store.
Example of a conversion rate: - Choose if the currency symbol should be displayed before (prefix) or after the price (suffix).
- Enable or disable the Hide trailing zeros in fractional part option for prices in your online catalog.
- Save the changes.
You can set only one currency for your online storefront. If you want to sell to other countries, you can display prices in your customers' home currency with the help of the Currency Сonverter app from the Lightspeed eCom App Market.
Units of weight and dimensions
The weight and dimension values are used in eCom to calculate shipping rates for your online customers. You can choose from several weight and dimension units for your catalog and adjust their display format.
To adjust weight and size units in eCom:
- From Retail POS, go to Online > Settings.
- On the General tab, switch to Regional Settings.
- Choose the desired unit in the Weight unit drop-down menu. You can select kg, g, lbs, oz, or ct.
- Choose the desired unit in the Dimensions unit drop-down menu. You can select in, yd, cm, or mm.

Choose the display format for the weight and dimension units (it will not affect input fields for them in your Retail POS or eCom admin panel):
- Enable or disable the Hide trailing zeros in fractional part option for weights and sizes in your store.
- Save the changes.
To show weight values on product pages in eCom, you can use the built-in design settings located in the Lightspeed eCom site editor or on the Online > Webstore (or Website) > Design page in Retail POS.
Store language
When you connect Retail POS to eCom, it automatically detects your browser language and uses it as your online storefront language. This affects texts of your storefront labels, customer notifications, and online invoices (if you use them). You can change the default language used in eCom or add more languages to create a multilingual website.
To change the language used in eCom:
- From Retail POS, go to Online > Settings.
- On the General tab, switch to Regional Settings.
- Under Language, click Language Settings.

Click Change Store Language (or Change Language):
- Choose a language from the drop-down list.
- Click Save.
- (optional) Scroll down to the Additional languages block and click + Add Languages if you want to make your online catalog/store multilingual:
To change the main eCom language, you must first remove all the additional languages (all translations into these languages will be deleted). After making the change, you can enable additional languages again.
Date and time
The time zone, time display format, and date display format you set for eCom are used in data export and email notifications, helping you and your customers keep track of the events.
To adjust date and time settings for eCom:
- From Retail POS, go to Online > Settings.
- On the General tab, switch to Regional Settings.
- Choose your time zone in the Time zone drop-down menu.
- Choose the desired option in the Time display format drop-down menu.

- Save the changes.
Closing your eCom storefront for maintenance
In case you don't want to display your eCom storefront (for example, your online catalog is currently under construction) you can temporarily close your storefront for visitors.
