When you activate Lightspeed eCom for your Retail POS, you choose between getting a website with or without Ecommerce.
A site without Ecommerce does not have a checkout and customers can’t purchase your brand online. You can use the site as a landing page, showroom, or online catalog.
A site with Ecommerce does have a checkout, so customers can purchase your products online.
You can always enable or disable checkout for your eCom webisite.
Turning on checkout on your eCom site
Once you enable checkout on your site, more settings appear in your eCom admin, including shipping, online payments, selling on social media, and so on. You will need to set up online settings to ensure a smooth checkout process for your customers.
To enable checkout in your online store:
- From your Retail POS, go to Online > Settings and switch to the Online store tab.
- Click Activate online store to switch to a full-fledged Ecommerce website.
- Save the changes.
That’s it. Now customers can purchase items from your site:
Turning off checkout on your eCom site
When you disable checkout from your eCom site, all Ecommerce-specific settings will disappear from the admin.
If later you decide to enable the full Ecommerce site again, the settings you’ve configured will appear in the state you already set them.
In case you connect your online store with marketplaces or social media to sell or advertise online and haven’t disabled connection before turning off the checkout, your online catalog will still be connected, but you will need to manage your sales or advertising directly from your social media or marketplace account.
To disable checkout in your online store:
- From your Retail POS, go to Online > Settings and switch to the Online store tab.
- Click Deactivate online store to disable checkout on your website.
- Save the changes.
That’s it. Now customers can only browse your site without the option for purchasing products:
