Troubleshooting receipt printers on iOS

If you are having trouble with your receipt printer while on your iPad, here are a few steps to solve them.

First, check if your printer is powered on and has paper. If your printer's paper roll is inserted correctly and does not print, it may be related to connectivity issues.

To troubleshoot connectivity issues, first restart your iPad. Once your iPad has restarted, depending on your connectivity type, follow these steps:

  • USB

    1. If your printer is connected to your computer through the USB cable, disconnect and reconnect the cable to your printer.
    2. Plug the printer into a power source using the provided cable and leave your printer turned off.
    3. If your printer has a FEED button, press and hold the button until the printer powers on to perform a hardware self-test. A test receipt with your printer's information will print.
    4. Open the Retail POS and tap the Menu icon (☰) > Settings > Hardware.
    5. Under Receipt printer, ensure your printer is listed and paired. hardware-settings-ios.png

    3. If your printer has a FEED button, press and hold the button until the printer powers on to perform a hardware self-test. A test receipt with your printer's information will print.
    4. Open the Retail POS and tap the Menu icon (☰) > Settings > Hardware.
