CUPS is a network printing service used by Mac computers. It allows you to set up printers on a network and customize options like cash drawer setups.

Enabling CUPS on Mac

To enable CUPS:

1. Download and install the CUPS driver for Mac.
2. Copy the following text: cupsctl WebInterface=yes.
3. Click the magnifying glass in the top right corner of your Mac screen.

4. Search for Terminal, then hit Enter on your keyboard.

   

5. In the Terminal window, paste cupsctl WebInterface=yes and hit Enter on your keyboard.

   

6. Navigate to http://localhost:631/printers/ to view your installed printers.

   

7. Sign in to CUPS. Your CUPS username and password will be the same as your Mac username and password. You can check your Mac username in System Settings > Users & Groups.

   

You can click a printer’s name to access its settings or set up your cash drawer.

Enabling automatic receipt cutting in CUPS

Once you’ve printed a receipt, your printer can be set to automatically cut receipts from the paper roll.

1. After enabling CUPS, navigate to http://localhost:631/printers/.

2. Click the Printers tab, then click your printer’s name.

   

3. Click the dropdown and select Set default options.

   

4. Click the Paper cut dropdown and select Cut per page.

   

5. Click Set default options.
