Retail POS will create cash, Lightspeed Payments cards, and other payment method types by default. If enabled, other payment types will appear as standard buttons on your payment page, including On account, layaway, Loyalty, store credit, and gift cards.
Understanding payment types in Retail POS
Integrated payments are payments that Retail POS automatically pushes to the card terminal and receives an approval or decline response back to close the sale.
Non-integrated payments require you to manually enter the payment amount into Retail POS. This payment type can be used for physical payments like a cash or check, or for an external card reader that is not integrated with Lightspeed.
Optionally, you can set up additional payment types in Retail POS:
- Cash: For cash or special vouchers. These non-integrated payment types will not incur card fees when using cash discounting. Learn more about setting up cash and check payment types.
-
Cards: For integrated third-party card payments. Retail POS integrates with a number of third-party payment providers in different regions.
