Setting up your Dymo 450 Turbo Label Printer for Windows PC or Mac

Important

DYMO Software compatibility issues with Microsoft Windows have been resolved.

Update your software for DYMO Connect by opening it and clicking Help > Check for Update, and download the latest version. Alternatively, you can download the newest version of DYMO Connect here.

Before Getting Started

Before printing from your Dymo, make sure you have the correct Label sizes supported with Retail POS. While Dymo supports a range of different label sizes we recommend 11352, 30336 or 1738541 Dymo labels.

  • Installing your Dymo Label Printer for Windows

    The DYMO printer requires special printing drivers in order to print from your Windows PC. Once you've installed the drivers, labels can be printed directly from Retail POS.

    Follow the steps below:

    1. Go to the Dymo 450 Turbo page on DYMO's website.

    2. Scroll to the Downloads section.

    3. Click the Windows driver that suits your Operating System to download.

    4. Go to your Downloads folder and double-click the downloaded file

    5. Follow the DYMO Setup Wizard to install the software.

    6. Connect your DYMO label printer directly to your computer via the USB cable provided.

    7. Load your labels into your printer. For instructions on how to do this, please check your DYMO 450 Turbo instruction manual.

    Setting the print preferences in Windows

    Once the drivers have been downloaded and the printer connected, you will need to set the print preferences in Windows.

    1. Open the Start menu and navigate to the Control Panel.
    2. Select Devices and Printers.
    3. Right-click on the DYMO printer and select Printer Properties.
    4. In the Printer Properties window, click Preferences at the bottom and then Advanced on the right.
    5. This will open a window that displays the below settings. Verify that the paper is set to the same type of label you loaded earlier under the Paper/Output header.


    Set the label printing format in Retail POS

    Important

    Printing Jewellery labels from Retail POS is not currently supported.

    The DYMO 450 Turbo is a continuous printing format printer. To get your labels to print correctly, Retail POS needs to know this format.

    1. In Retail POS, navigate to Setup > General.

    2. From the Label printer format drop-down, select Continuous feed

    3. Click Save.

    How to print labels

    Test print

    To ensure the setup has been done correctly, we recommend test printing a series of labels. Follow the steps below:

    1. Navigate to Catalog > Products

    2. Choose a product and click on the product name.

    3. Click Print label.

    4. Input the quantity of barcodes to print. We recommend a run of 5 or more barcodes to ensure that the alignment is correct.

    5. Click Next.

    6. Click Print.

    7. In the Chrome Print Preview screen, click more settings and select the Paper Size dropdown.

    8. Select your label size code (or nearest label size code) and click Print.

  • Installing your Dymo Label Printer for Mac

    The DYMO printer requires special printing drivers in order to print from your Mac. Once you've installed the drivers, labels can be printed directly from Retail POS.

    Follow the steps below:

    1. Go to the Dymo 450 Turbo page on DYMO's website.

    2. Scroll to the Downloads section.

    3. Click the relevant Mac driver that suits your Operating System to download.

    4. Open the download and follow the DYMO setup to install the software.

    5. Connect your DYMO label Printer directly to your Mac via the USB cable provided.

    6. Open System preferences > Print and Scan and click on the + button to add the printer.

    7. Add a name for your Dymo Label printer, select Use > select.. and search for Dymo.


    Setting up the Correct Printer Size

    Note

    Retail POS does not support labels smaller than 21 mm in width or height. Jewelry labels are not currently supported in Retail POS.

    1.  Open Chrome or Safari and click http://localhost:631/printers/

    2. Click Printers from the top menu and select DYMO LabelWriter 450 Turbo.

    3. Click the second drop-down menu and select Set Default Options.

    4. Under General, click Media Size dropdown and select your label size code.

    5. Click Set Default Options to save.

    Note

    Cannot find your size? Select Custom Size and input your label dimensions (width, height and measurement unit).

    How to print labels

    Test print
