Preparing your TM-m30III

  1. Remove the back and bottom covers of your printer.

  2. If you're setting up your printer via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, skip to step 3. For Ethernet (LAN) or USB setups:
    • Ethernet (LAN): Connect the Ethernet cable to the back of the printer and to your router.

    • USB: Connect the USB cable to your printer and Mac or Windows computer, or Lightning to USB cable to your printer and iPad.
  3. Connect the AC adapter to your printer.

  4. Connect the AC cable to the AC adapter and an electrical outlet.
  5. Attach the bottom and back covers to your printer.

  6. Turn on your printer. The power LED light will stop blinking and become solid once your printer is ready.
  7. Open the printer's cover by pushing the lever on the right-hand side of the cover away from you and lift the cover upwards.
  8. Insert the paper roll in the following orientation. Keep the paper roll taut so it doesn't unroll, pulling the paper out past the cutter at the front of the printer.

  9. Push the cover down to snap the lever shut.

Connecting your TM-m30III to your device

  • Downloading and installing the Epson driver for Mac

    1. To download the latest printer drivers (specialized software that helps the printer run correctly on your computer), go to Epson's website, find your printer model and click it.
    2. On the printer model page, click Software.
    3. Click the checkbox next to Agree to the Software License.
    4. Click the Download button next to the Printer Driver for Mac
    5. When the download is complete, open Finder and navigate to the Downloads folder. Double-click the file to extract it.
    6. Next, open the extracted folder of the same name.
    7. Double-click the .dmg file and the .pkg file
    8. Follow the installation guide instructions to install the driver.

    Installing your TM-m30III on Mac

    1. Navigate to System Preferences and click Printers and Scanners.

    2. Click the plus (+) icon to add a new printer

    3. Connect the printer by USB:
      1. Select the printer to be added from the list, which will autofill the name, location, and use.

      2. Click Add.
    4. Connect the printer by LAN:
      1. Select the IP icon (represented by a globe).

      2. Enter the requested information:
        • Address: This is where you need to enter your printer's IP address. To find this, you will need to switch the printer off and turn it back on and wait 10-15 seconds until the network configuration slip is printed. Ensure that Ethernet (LAN) cable is connected to your device and the printer before attempting to print the IP address.

        • Protocol: Select Line Printer Daemon - LPD from the dropdown.
        • Queue: Leave this blank.
        • Name: This is an optional field. If you would like to customize the name of your receipt printer, enter it in here.
        • Location: Leave this blank.
      3. Click the Use drop-down and select Select Software….

      4. Search for Epson using the Filter field and select EPSON TM Thermal (203dpi), then click OK.

      5. Click Add.

    Enable Receipt Cutting on Mac

    Once a receipt is printed, your Epson printer needs to be set to automatically cut the receipt from the paper roll.

    1. Open your browser and enter the following URL: http://localhost:631/printers/. This will take you to CUPS, a network printing service used by Mac computers. It allows you to customize options such as receipt cutting.
    2. In CUPS, select your TM-m30III from the Printers list.

    4. From the Paper Cut drop-down, select Cut Per Page.

    5. Click Set Default Options.
  • Downloading and installing the Epson driver for Windows

    1. To download the latest printer drivers (specialized software that helps the printer run correctly on your computer), go to Epson's website, find your printer model and click it.
    2. On the printer model page, click Software.
    3. Click the checkbox next to Agree to the Software License.
    4. Click the Download button next to the Printer Driver for Windows
    5. When this download is completed, go to your Downloads folder, right-click on the file, and select Extract All….
    6. After extracting the file, a new folder will open. Double-click on the install and follow the installation guide instructions.
    7. Once installed you will see a confirmation box. Close this and continue to the next step.

    Installing your TM-m30III on Windows

    1. After installing the drivers, you will be brought to the printer setup screen where you'll need to input printer information.
    2. In the relevant fields, enter:

      1. Model: Select Epson TM-m30III.
      2. Name: Type in a name of your choice or leave as default.
      3. Port Type: Set this to Ethernet or USB depending on your connection type.
      4. Port: Leave this as Auto setup.
      5. IP Address (LAN connection only): This is where you need to enter your printer's IP address when connecting via LAN. To find this you will need to switch the printer off and turn it back on, then wait for a few seconds until the network configuration slip is printed.

    3. Once you've filled out these fields, click Save Settings and then click Next to complete the setup.
  • Establishing a wireless connection on iPad (optional)

    If using Ethernet (LAN) or USB, skip to Installing your TM-m30III.

    Connecting your printer to Wi-Fi

    1. Download the Epson TM Utility app from the App Store and install it on your iPad.

    2. Open the Epson TM Utility app on your iPad and select Wi-Fi Setup Wizard from the menu.
    3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

    Connecting your printer to Bluetooth

    1. Open the Settings app on your iPad.
    2. Tap Bluetooth under General Settings.

    3. Ensure Bluetooth is turned on. The Bluetooth slider should be green and switched to the right. If the slider is to the left and gray, tap again to ensure Bluetooth is on.

    4. Open the roll paper cover on the printer. Hold down the Feed button until the Paper LED starts flashing, then release the button.
    5. Close the roll paper cover. A receipt starting with "Next Action" will print.
    6. Once printed, press the Feed button once for less than one second, and then hold down the Feed button for at least one second. A status sheet will be printed and the printer will be ready for pairing.
    7. In your iPad Bluetooth settings, select the printer name that is printed on the status sheet from the list of connectable devices to pair it.

    Installing your TM-m30III on iPad

    1. Open the Retail POS app and tap the Menu icon (☰).
    2. Select Settings > Hardware.
    3. Under Receipt printers, tap Add a printer.

    4. A modal will display to add your printer. Tap Follow steps to connect and add a printer > Next.

    5. Perform a hardware self-test by following the on-screen instructions and tap Next.
    6. Once your hardware self-test receipt prints, tap Next.
    7. Select Epson from the Printer brand drop-down and TM-m30III from the Printer model drop-down, then tap Next.

    8. Select your connection type:
      • Select USB for USB connection.
      • Select Ethernet for Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection.
      • Select Bluetooth for Bluetooth connection.

    9. Tap Next.
    10. Follow the on-screen instructions (depending on connection type) and tap Add printer once completed.
    11. Confirm the printer you want to add by selecting it under connected printers and tap Next.
    12. Your printer is now paired with Retail POS. You can choose to rename your printer and perform a Test print, then tap Finish.

Performing a test print

  • Performing a test print on Mac and Windows

    1. In Retail POS, navigate to Sell > Sales history.

    2. Click a sale to expand it.
    3. Click Print receipt.

    4. Select the receipt template you wish to use

    5. The print preview screen will be displayed. If the Epson is not your default printer, click Change and select the printer from the list.
    6. Select Print.
  • Performing a test print on iPad

    1. In the Retail POS app, tap the Menu icon (☰) to open the sidebar and select Sales History.

    3. Tap Print receipt.

    4. Select the receipt template you’d like to use and tap Print.

Connecting a cash drawer (optional)

Cash drawers connect to your receipt printer and are triggered to open when you finish a cash or cheque sale, and a receipt is printed.
