Setting up product-specific shipping methods in Lightspeed eCom

You can customize what shipping methods to use for each product in your Lightspeed eCom (E-Series) online store by enabling or disabling particular shipping options for an item. It comes in handy if you have individual products that don’t fit all shipping methods in your store. For example, some of your items are too heavy to ship, and you want to enable in-store pickup only.

After you adjust shipping methods for a product, customers will be able to choose only from the shipping methods you specified. Methods you exclude for a product won’t appear at checkout.

Turning on and off shipping methods for a product

To customize a product's shipping methods, you must set up at least two shipping options in your online store.

Let’s say you sell vegetables and cheese from your farm all over the country. In addition to that, you start to bake pizza. Delivering hot pizza to another city makes no sense, so you decide to limit pizza delivery to your local city.

You can manage product-specific shipping methods for several items in bulk via Mass Update.

To specify shipping methods for a product:

  1. In your eCom admin panel, go to Catalog > Products.
  2. Click on a product to open it for editing.
  3. On the product editing page, switch to the Shipping & Pickup tab.
  4. Under Shipping Rates, select Specify shipping methods for this product.

  5. Click Enable or Disable specific methods. You'll see the list of all shipping methods that you've set up in your store.
  6. Select methods from the list to enable particular shipping methods for a product.
  7. Similarly, if you want to disable shipping methods for a product, select the methods from the list. Your customers won’t see the shipping methods you turned off at checkout.
  8. Click Save.

If a customer’s shopping bag has items with conflicting shipping methods, your online store will show a warning for the customer to split their order at checkout.

Removing product-specific shipping methods

You can always undo adjustments you made for a product and make all shipping methods available for this item.

To remove product-specific shipping methods for a product:

  1. In your eCom admin panel, go to Catalog > Products.
  2. Click on a product.
  3. On the product editing page, click the Shipping & Pickup tab.
  4. Scroll to the Specify shipping methods for this product section.
  5. Hover over the shipping method you want to remove from the enabled or disabled list and click the trash icon.
  6. Click Save.
