Hi. How can we help?

Editing the average cost of products

Every product in Retail POS has an average cost. This is a weighted average of the supply prices at which the current units of stock were received and is used to calculate the Cost of Goods Sold in reporting.

The average cost can be affected by incorrectly entered supply prices when receiving stock orders and stock transfers. As a result, your reporting will not be accurate. To fix this, you can overwrite a product average cost using a CSV import:

  1. Navigate to Catalog > Products.
  2. Follow the Exporting and editing your product catalog steps in our Editing products using a spreadsheet file guide.

  3. Add columns to the CSV file formatted as average_cost_<outlet_name> for each outlet and enter your desired average cost value for each product. The value can be 0 or a positive decimal value up to 5 decimal places.
