Hi. How can we help?

What is a SKU?

What is a SKU?

SKU stands for Stock Keeping Unit, and is the unique identifier for a products stock item.

A SKU can be many things. It can be a code you make up and use yourself, or it could be an existing code belonging to the product already, such as the barcode. Using the product barcode as your SKU makes it really easy to scan and look up products with a barcode scanner in Retail POS. To do this, scan the barcode when on the Retail POS sell screen, and the product will automatically be added to the sale.

Important: SKUs can only have letters, numbers and ".", "-", "_" and "/" characters. If you notice SKUs aren't scanning or importing correctly, check to make sure they're only made up of numbers and letters and do not contain any symbols such as commas.
