How do I take payments over the phone using my Tyro terminal?

Objective

These are called MOTO transactions (when the card isn't physically present, and you manually enter the card number into the terminal) and are supported. MOTO transactions only work with credit cards and the steps to do so differ based on your Tyro terminals. 

Setup

  • Tyro integrated payments
  • Retail POS on iPad
  • Retail POS for Mac or PC

Steps

On Yomani 3G and Yoximo terminals: 

 Enable MOTO

  1. Press the Menu button.
  2. Select 'Configuration' (requires Admin Password)
  3. Select 'MOTO' and "Enable", and accept the terms
  4. Press STOP button several times to return to main screen

To process a MOTO transaction in Integrated Mode

  1. Initiate transaction in Retail POS
  2. When amount is displayed on the terminal, click on Menu
  3. Press MOTO
  4. Allow MOTO in Retail POS
  5. On the Terminal select Mail Order or Telephone Order
  6.  Follow the prompts to enter credit card number, expiry date, cvv (only Telephone order)
  7. Press OK

To process a MOTO transaction in Standalone Mode

  1. Press the Menu button
  2. Select Transactions
  3. Select MOTO Purchase
  4. Choose between Mail Order (does not require cvv) or Telephone Order (requires cvv)
  5. Follow the prompts to enter credit card number, expiry date, cvv (only Telephone order) and amount

On Xenta and Xentissimo Terminals:

 Enable MOTO

  1. Press the Menu button.
  2. Select 'Configuration' (requires Admin Password)
  3. Select 'MOTO' and "Enable", and accept the terms.
  4. Press STOP button several times to return to main screen

To process a MOTO transaction in Integrated Mode

  1. Initiate transaction in Retail POS
  2. When amount is displayed on Tyro, click on Menu.
  3. Press MOTO.
  4. Allow MOTO on Retail POS
  5. On the terminal select Mail Order or Telephone Order, then follow the prompts to enter credit card number, expiry date, cvv (only Telephone order) and amount

 To process a MOTO transaction in Standalone Mode

  1. Press MOTO (the option appears on the screen)
  2. Select Mail Order (does not require cvv) or Telephone Order (requires cvv)
  3. Follow the prompts to enter credit card number, expiry date, cvv (only Telephone order) and amount

If you are unable to select the MOTO option in the Configuration menu, please contact Tyro Customer Support on 1300 966 639 to apply to enable MOTO on your account.
