Weight and dimension sync with eCom (E-Series) stores provisioned by Retail POS (X-Series). You must have eCom (E-Series) enabled to access the weight and dimension feature on the Edit Product page. Third-party integrations do not sync this information.
For merchants using Retail POS with E-Series, weight and dimension on your standard and variant products help with shipping costs when providers and postal services offer variable pricing based on the package's weight and/or size. Having this information on your products helps calculate those costs more accurately.
To add weight and dimensions to your products, follow these steps:
Standard product
1. From the main menu, go to Catalog > Products > Add product.
2. Click Standard product.
3. Scroll to the Weight and dimension section, and enter the information. The units of measure are gram(g), kilogram(kg), ounce(oz), pound(lb), and carat for weight and millimeter(mm), centimeter(cm) inches(in), and foot (ft) for dimension. Volume units like liter(L) or milliliter(ml) are not supported.
4. Once satisfied with the information, click Save.
Variant product
1. From the main menu, go to Catalog > Products > Add product.
2. Click Variant product.
3. Scroll to the Variants section, click your first variant to open it, and go to Weight and dimension.
5. Enter your information. The units of measure are gram(g), kilogram(kg), ounce(oz), pound(lb) and carat for weight and millimeter(mm), centimeter(cm) inches(in) and foot (ft) for dimension. If you choose to apply it to all your variants, click Apply to all variants. You can also add the information manually on each of your variants if it differs.
6. Once satisfied with all your products, click Save.
Adding weight and dimension in bulk
If you need to upload or update many products with weight and dimension, you can do so using a CSV spreadsheet.
- Download the weight and dimension specific CSV templates. These are pre-formatted to include headings for adding weight and dimension units for creating or updating products. We strongly recommend opening the Retail POS product template spreadsheet file in Excel or using free spreadsheet software such as Open Office to retain the formatting required.
- Enter weight and dimension required for your products in the corresponding cells.
- Save as a CSV file.
- In Retail POS, navigate to Catalog > Products.
- Click Import.
- Drag and drop your file, or click Choose a file to upload to search for and add the file.
- As soon as you place your file here, Retail POS will immediately perform a check to make sure your columns match. If your columns don't match, refer to the steps for Importing the product file in our Importing products in bulk article to correct any errors.
- Once successful, you will be taken to a confirmation screen. From here, click Continue with import to import the product weight and dimension into your catalog.
