Tiered promotions can be used to incentivize customers to purchase a greater number of products or spend more money in your store. Customers are rewarded based on how many products they purchase or how much they spend.
Setting up tiered buy promotions
Buy promotions encourage customers to increase the quantity of items they buy. Some examples of buy promotions:
- Buy and save: Buy 1-3 shirts and save 10%. Buy 4-6 shirts and save 20%.
- Buy for a fixed price: Buy 3 shirts for $15. Buy 5 shirts for $20.
- Buy and earn loyalty: Buy 1-5 shirts and earn double Loyalty points. Buy 6-10 shirts and earn triple Loyalty points.
- Buy and get: Buy 2 shirts, get one free. Buy 4 shirts, get two free.
To use a tiered promotion, you will need to set up a new promotion in your store. You may also set up a tiered promotion with minimum and maximum quantity values.
Setting up the first buy promotion tier
- Navigate to Catalog > Promotions and click Add promotion.
- Enter the promotion details, including name and description, channels, outlets, and schedule.
- Select Advanced for the type of promotion.
- Click the dropdown next to When a Customer and select Buys the following items.
- In the Buy section, click Set a min or max.
- Set the minimum and maximum number of products a customer can purchase and still qualify for the first tier of the promotion.
You can also run this type of promotion by setting a specific quantity for each tier, rather than creating minimum/maximum quantity ranges. For example, buy 1 shirt and save 10%, buy 2 shirts and save 15%.
-
Use the product field to choose whether you want to apply the promotion to all of your products, or only to specific products. If you choose specific products, use the search bar to filter by tag, type, brand, supplier, or SKU.
-
Choose a reward for your customers from the dropdown next to Then they will. This selects the reward that your customers will receive under this promotion.
-
Select whether to make your promotion Available to everyone or make it Exclusive to some.
-
Click Save.
Setting up the next buy promotion tier
Now that you have set up your first promotion tier, you can set up additional tiers to offer your customers even more savings when they purchase more items in your store.
When setting up your tiered promotion it is important to make sure that all the terms of your promotion (i.e. the product, the reward, and the date range) stay the same for each tier. For example, if you set up the first tier to offer a fixed price for a number of shirts, then your next tier will also need to be a fixed price promotion for a number of shirts. If you have different products in each tier your tiered promotion will not work and they will be set as separate promotions in your store.
- Navigate to Catalog > Promotions and locate the first promotion tier you set up.
- Click on the arrow to expand the details and click Duplicate.
- Update the name and description to match the new tier. Do not change the promotion date range.
- In the Buy section, select the new minimum and maximum values for the next level of your tier.
- Update the amount the customer will pay for the new tier.
- Keep all other fields the same, including the products being offered as part of the promotion and the reward.
- Click Save.
You can create an unlimited number of tiers to add to your promotion. To create more tiers, follow the instructions in Setting up the next buy promotion tier and adjust the buy and reward amounts as required.
Setting up tiered spend promotions
Using tiered spend promotions allows you to encourage your customers to spend more in your store to receive rewards. Some examples of spend promotions:
- Spend and earn loyalty: Spend $100, earn double the loyalty points. Spend $200, earn triple the loyalty points.
- Spend and save: Spend $25, save 10%. Spend $50, save 20%.
