  • Once your Retail POS and BigCommerce accounts are connected, Retail POS becomes the system of record.
  • You should manage your product catalog, pricing, and inventory information in Retail POS to ensure everything stays accurate and up-to-date.
  • BigCommerce feeds important information back to Retail POS such as online sales, new customer or existing customer information associated with a sale, and inventory from a sale to keep stock levels in sync.
  • Please click the following link for more on how to use the BigCommerce integration!

Publishing all Retail POS products to BigCommerce

If your products are created in Retail POS (and none in BigCommerce), and you want to publish them all to BigCommerce, navigate to Setup > Apps > BigCommerce and click the Publish all products button towards the bottom of the page.

Please Note

This is only recommended if it hasn't been done before.

When publishing your products from Retail POS into BigCommerce, the following rules will apply:

  • "Active" Retail POS products will be set to "Visible" on BigCommerce
  • "Inactive" or "Unpublished" products in Retail POS are set to "Not Visible" in BigCommerce.
  • "Active" variant products in Retail POS are set to "Enabled" in BigCommerce.
  • "Inactive" variant products in Retail POS are set to "Disabled" in BigCommerce.
  • If all variants for a parent product are set to "Inactive", the product will be set to "Not Visible" in BigCommerce.
  • If at least one variant product in a parent product is set to "Active", the parent product will be set to "Visible" in BigCommerce.

Pushing groups of Retail POS products to BigCommerce

If there are select or groups of Retail POS products you would like to push to BigCommerce, rather than your whole product list, navigate to CatalogProducts to pick and choose the products you would like to push, using the product checkboxes.

Filter your products using product tag, type, brand or supplier, then select your products using the checkboxes next to each product.

Click Choose an action and click Publish to BigCommerce.

Pulling all BigCommerce products into Retail POS

Important

If you have not checked your product data then do not proceed with this step yet. Back up any product and inventory information before proceeding with product import.

If all of your products are in BigCommerce (existing BigCommerce user), you can head over to Setup > Apps > BigCommerce, and click Import all products button towards the bottom of the page.

Please Note

If you have a high number of products, then it may take some time for these to appear in Retail POS due to how BigCommerce works with other systems.

Linking Retail POS and BigCommerce products together

If you have products in both systems and would like to link your products, refer to our Linking existing Retail POS and BigCommerce products guide.

Managing images with BigCommerce

When publishing a new product to BigCommerce from Retail POS, all images will be published, including those assigned at a variant level.

Retail POS then becomes the system of record*. Any time you update or add an image to the product, it will sync to BigCommerce.

*For all new connections as of May 20, 2021. Connections made prior to this date will require images to be managed manually on each platform

Note

Retail POS supports image file sizes up to 8MB each. For larger files, these will need to be uploaded to BigCommerce directly.

Managing variants and composite products with BigCommerce

Products with variants: Display as a single product in BigCommerce, with drop-down menus to select your different variant options on the product's page. This means that you won't be able to display each variant in your BigCommerce store separately.

If a product is set up as a Product with Variants in Retail POS, all versions of the variant will be sent to BigCommerce. You cannot publish a selection variants to your BigCommerce store. If you want to display each item individually, you'll need to set them up as standard products in your Retail POS store.

Composite products: Display as an individual product in BigCommerce, with the information matched to the composite product in Retail POS, rather than the component items.

Sales of a composite product in BigCommerce will still update the inventory of the individual items that make up the composite product in Retail POS.

Managing product handles with BigCommerce

The product handle field will only sync when a product is first published from Retail POS to BigCommerce. This will form the Product URL in BigCommerce and must be edited in BigCommerce.

Variant products will be published with "updating" added to the Product URL when published from Retail POS to BigCommerce. This does not apply to standard products.

For more information on editing product URLs in BigCommerce, refer to the BigCommerce Help Center.
