Updating and troubleshooting Retail POS (X-Series) iOS apps

Updating your apps

Stay up-to-date with your Lightspeed Retail POS apps to take advantage of new features, ensure smooth compatibility, and boost overall performance.

  1. Select the app you want to update:
  2. On the app's page, scroll to the What’s new section.
  3. Check the Version History for the latest Version [number]. Lightspeed Retail POS (X) iOS app store page

Identifying your Retail POS (X-Series) app version

Knowing your current app version helps identify if you're on the latest update, ensuring you're not missing out on new features and improvements.

  1. Open the Retail POS app on your iPad.
  2. Tap on the Menu icon () on the top left-hand side of the screen. 
  3. Tap the green Online icon at the top of the menu bar. Online button highlighted in menu

Troubleshooting your Retail POS (X-series) app

If the troubleshooting steps above don't work, you can delete and reinstall the Retail POS (X-Series) app.

  1. Update the Retail POS app
    1. In the app store, search for the Lightspeed Retail POS (X) app.
    2. If the Retail POS app says Update, tap this to update your app.
  2. Update your iOS Version
    1. On your iPad's home screen, tap Settings.
    2. Tap General.
    3. Tap Software update.
    4. If there is an update available, tap Download and install.
  3. Clear the iPad Cache
    1. On your iPad's home screen, tap Settings.
    2. Tap Safari.
    3. Tap Clear history and website data.
  4. Fix login
    1. On the Retail POS app, tap the three lined menu button.
    2. Press and hold the Online button for 5-10 seconds until a Support window pops up in the middle of the screen.
    3. Tap Fix Login. The app will force close and then re-open the app and sign back in.

Deleting and reinstalling the Retail POS app will disconnect Retail POS from any hardware/payment processors you're using and you may need to reconfigure settings. Before deleting the app, make sure you have your Apple ID and password available to reinstall the app from the App Store. You can resync data on the Retail POS (X-Series) iPad app after logging in your account.
