Updating your apps
Stay up to date with your Lightspeed Retail POS apps to take advantage of new features, ensure smooth compatibility, and boost overall performance.
Age verification is legally required in some regions to access Lightspeed mobile applications. You must verify your age through the App Store or Google Play Store.
- Select the app you want to update:
- On the app's page, navigate to the What’s new section.
- Check the Version History for the latest Version [number].
Identifying your Retail POS (X-Series) app version
Knowing your current app version helps identify if you're on the latest update, ensuring you're not missing out on new features and improvements.
- Open the Retail POS app on your iPad.
- Tap on the Menu icon (☰) on the top left-hand side of the screen.
- Tap the green Online icon at the top of the menu bar.
- Access the version number at the bottom of the Status window that displays.
Troubleshooting your Retail POS (X-series) app
If the troubleshooting steps above don't work, you can delete and reinstall the Retail POS (X-Series) app.
Age verification is legally required to access Lightspeed mobile applications. Ensure you've verified your age through the App Store or Google Play Store. Access is restricted for users under the legal age in their region.
- Update the Retail POS app
- In the App Store, search for the Lightspeed Retail POS (X) app.
- If the Retail POS app displays Update, tap this to update your app.
- Update your iOS Version
- On your iPad's home screen, tap Settings.
- Tap General.
- Tap Software update.
- If there is an update available, tap Download and install.
- Clear the iPad Cache
- On your iPad's home screen, tap Settings.
- Tap Safari.
- Tap Clear history and website data.
- Fix login
- Tap on the Menu icon (☰) on the top left-hand side of the screen.
- Press and hold the Online icon at the top of the menu bar for 5-10 seconds until a Support window pops up in the middle of the screen.
- Tap Fix Login. The app will force close.
- Then, re-open the app and sign back in.
Deleting and reinstalling the Retail POS app will disconnect Retail POS from any hardware/payment processors you're using, and you may need to reconfigure settings. Before deleting the app, make sure you have your Apple ID and password available to reinstall the app from the App Store. You can resync data on the Retail POS (X-Series) iPad app after logging in to your account.
