Training Mode for Retail POS, when activated, allows you to use Retail POS without affecting any of your store data. This feature is ideal for learning the basics of selling with Retail POS when first setting up your account, training staff, or testing new features as they are released. All sales data processed in Training Mode is wiped when exiting and will not be recorded in your regular reporting.
Training Mode is only available on Retail POS (desktop) and is not available on iOS.
Do not process any real sales while in Training Mode. Sales made when Training Mode is active are not recorded.
Switching to Training Mode
To activate Training Mode:
- Navigate to the Sell screen.
- Click Switch.
- Select Switch to Training Mode.
You can also activate Training Mode by navigating to Sell > Settings and selecting Enable Training Mode.
Once you have entered Training Mode, a pop-up will appear confirming that you are in Training Mode, and sales and payments will not be recorded. Click Got it to dismiss the pop-up.
When training mode is active, you won't be able to navigate away from the Sell page. You also can't email receipts, discard or park sales, or close the register.
If you have a sale in progress, a pop-up will appear alerting you that switching to Training Mode will discard the current sale. You can choose to Return to Sale in Progress to complete the sale or Save and Continue to switch to Training Mode and discard the in progress sale.
Using Training Mode
A banner will display on the top of your Retail POS screen indicating that you are in Training Mode.
In this banner, you have the option to enable or disable tutorial mode by clicking the toggle next to Enable tutorial.
When the tutorial is active, prompts will appear and take you through the selling process.
You can search for customers and products as well as process test sales without affecting your store data.
If you print a receipt while training mode is active, "Training Mode" will be displayed on the printout to indicate that it is not a real receipt.
Exiting Training Mode
To exit Training Mode, click Switch and then click Exit Training Mode.
A pop-up will appear confirming that you will be returning to Retail POS, where sales and payments will be recorded. You can select Continue training to stay in Training Mode or Exit training to return to Retail POS.
After exiting Training Mode, confirm that the Training Mode banner has disappeared and you are able to navigate away from the Sell page before processing a real sale.
