The negative inventory warning appears on the sell screen to alert your staff that an item they are adding to the cart has insufficient stock. You can enable this setting for each of your outlets.
Enabling the negative inventory warning
- Navigate to Setup > Outlets and registers.
- Locate the outlet you wish to enable the warning on and click Edit outlet.
- Click the checkbox beside Negative inventory.
Negative inventory warning can only be enabled for an entire outlet, not individual registers.
Viewing the negative inventory warning on the sell screen
When you add a product to a sale if the amount being sold exceeds the amount of available stock for the product, you will receive a warning message on the sell screen. There are three options available when receiving this message:
- Remove the product from the sale or decrease the number of items sold
- Click Continue anyway. This will let you sell the product as usual in cases where there is a discrepancy between your shelf stock and your inventory recorded in Retail POS.
- Click Mark sale as unfulfilled. This will let you sell the product for the customer to pick up at a later date or have delivered to them when you receive more stock of the item, for example. For more information, refer to Creating and managing unfulfilled sales.
Once you have made a choice, you can continue with processing the sale.
