If you have existing products in both Retail POS and WooCommerce, we recommend linking these products so that stock changes are correctly synced between the two platforms. This article lists three common scenarios you might encounter when linking your Retail POS and WooCommerce products.
What product information syncs with WooCommerce?
Important
- Once your Retail POS and WooCommerce accounts are connected, Retail POS becomes the system of record.
- You should manage your product catalog, pricing and inventory information in Retail POS to ensure everything stays accurate and up-to-date.
- WooCommerce feeds important information back to Retail POS such as online sales, new customer or existing customer information associated with a sale, and inventory from a sale to keep stock levels in sync.

Scenario 1: I have common products in Retail POS and WooCommerce
If you have common products in Retail POS and WooCommerce, the sync will link your products from WooCommerce with the same products in Retail POS by matching the product SKUs and handles.
To do this:
1. Navigate to Setup > Apps and click the edit pencil to open the WooCommerce settings page
2. Click Import all products.
3. Any products with matching SKU and handle combinations will be linked together. If you are using barcodes in WooCommerce, you will need to transfer these to the Variant SKU field in WooCommerce before you sync your products to Retail POS. This is to ensure that products on WooCommerce will match existing Retail POS products.
Important
Selecting Import all products will pull all the products from WooCommerce but won't overwrite the product information in Retail POS.
Scenario 2: I have different products in Retail POS and WooCommerce, but I want to link and keep all products on both platforms.
If you have one group of products in Retail POS and a different group in WooCommerce, and you want to combine the two so that you have the same products on both platforms, follow the steps below:
1. First, sync the WooCommerce products into Retail POS by navigating to Setup > Apps page in Retail POS and clicking the edit pencil to open the WooCommerce settings page. Now Import all products.
Important
We do pull images from WooCommerce into Retail POS when linking the existing products from WooCommerce.
2. Publish the Retail POS products to WooCommerce by navigating to Setup > Apps page in Retail POS and clicking the edit pencil to open the WooCommerce settings page. Now click Publish all products.
By doing this, all active products in Retail POS will be published to your WooCommerce store.
Important: When publishing your product to Retail POS, we will also publish all the images you have in Retail POS to WooCommerce, except for variant images. If you wish to show multiple images, such as images for the variant products, then you’ll need to upload these manually afterward.
Scenario 3: I have products in Retail POS and WooCommerce, but not all SKU and handle combinations match.
Sometimes you may have the same products in Retail POS and WooCommerce, but the SKUs for these products may not match perfectly between Retail POS and WooCommerce.
To fix this, follow the steps below:
1. Make sure that the common products in Retail POS and WooCommerce have the same SKU.
2. If any common products in Retail POS and WooCommerce do not have matching SKUs, then edit the SKUs for these products in either WooCommerce or Retail POS.
Important
Before going ahead with this change it is important to note the implications of changing SKUs in Retail POS or WooCommerce:
- If you use barcodes in store then you’d have to print the barcode again for the new SKUs.
We recommend contacting WooCommerce Support regarding the implications of changing your product SKUs.
3. Once you have the SKU match for every product, navigate to Setup > Apps in Retail POS and click the pencil icon to open the WooCommerce settings page. Click Import all products. Retail POS will look for the SKUs on the WooCommerce products and link them together.
4. It is important that you Import all products when you first link WooCommerce with Retail POS. Once you’ve done this, all future products should be created in Retail POS, as Retail POS will be the system of record for all inventory and product management going forward.
