Enable DHCP for your Epson TM-T88V Printer

Important: Setting up DHCP can be quite complicated, if you have a network administrator please consult with them before completing this setup.

If you have received an Epson TM-T88V from a supplier and it is set to factory defaults, you may need to enable DHCP so that it works correctly on your network. To do this follow the steps below:

1. Plug your computer into the EPSON printer using an ethernet cable.

2. To access the printer set-up screen, you will need to change your computer's IP address temporarily. It is important to note down your current settings before changing anything; you will need to change this back at the end of the set-up process.

You will be changing the settings to:

  • Connection method: Manual/Static IP
  • IP Address: 192.168.192.xxx - the last 3 digits can be any number between 1-254, except 168.
  • Subnet Mask:
  • Router/Default Gateway:

Follow the steps in the link below for your operating system:

  • Mac

  • Windows - Follow the directions for IPv4 settings.

In your Internet browser, navigate to This will open the printer setup: 

  • Under the configuration menu, select TCP/IP
  • Change the 'Get IP Address' setting to 'Auto', and click 'Submit'. You will see a message on your screen confirming your changes, and the printer will reboot. 
  • Reset your computer's IP address back to its original settings. To do this, follow step 2 again, but use the original settings you noted down. This will enable your computer to connect to the your network again.

  • Plug your printer back into the modem/router instead of into your computer.

Test the printer

To confirm you have set up the printer correctly, you can complete this test.

1. Make sure your printer is turned off.

2. Hold down the push button for 7 seconds and simultaneously switch the printer back on (the same one you used to reset the default settings). Your printer will print out the current network settings.

3. Check the number in the 'IP Address' field: 

  • If this shows (NONE) or anything starting with 169.254.xxx.xxx, check your printer is connected to the network. After a few seconds, try Step 1 again. If it still displays the this, try setting it up again.

  • If this shows anything else, your printer has been successfully set up.
