Activating your Retail POS (X-Series) Account

Activate your account if you're ready to process real sales and set up a live store. You'll delete your trial data, choose a billing plan, and enter your credit card information to begin your subscription.

Deleting trial data

You likely created sample products and customers to practice sales during the account trial. Before you activate your store, remember to delete the trial data because sales history can't be removed after account activation.

To delete all sales history, products, and customer data:

  1. Navigate to Setup > Billing.
  2. In the Clear out data section, click Select data to clear.
  3. Select the data you want to clear.
  4. Click Delete and the trial account data will be deleted.

Selecting a plan

Navigate to Setup > Billing to access the Retail POS plans. The plan that best suits your data will be automatically highlighted.

Choosing monthly or annual billing

After activating your account, you'll be billed immediately. The billing amount and frequency depend on your choice of a monthly or annual plan. Retail POS charges in advance, so each payment covers the upcoming month or year, not the past one.

Your Retail POS account can't be activated without a valid billing address. For merchants in the United States, this address will also determine the sales tax applied to your subscriptions.

Monthly billing

The monthly billing cycle is a 30-day interval and Retail POS invoices your plan's fees. You'll be billed immediately after activation and then on the same day in the following months.

Annual billing

For annual billing, you'll be billed immediately after activation and again every 12 months following activation. Paying annually will earn you a discount on the monthly rate you pay in total.

A different billing cycle may apply to app subscriptions which might not always match the billing date of your Retail POS subscription billing cycle. If you ever need to pause or cancel your account due to store closure, make sure you also cancel your app subscriptions to avoid future charges.

Retail POS subscription fees are non-refundable. Refer to the Lightspeed Service Agreement for more information.

Activating your Retail POS account

When you've deleted your trial data, picked your Retail POS plan, and chosen your billing schedule, you're ready to activate your account. Activating your account makes your store live and gives you full access to the tools and features you need to manage your store efficiently. To activate your account:

  1. Select whether you'd like to be billed annually, or monthly.
  2. Enter your valid billing address and credit card details.
  3. Click Activate your account.

Making changes to your plan

When you add an outlet or register before your next billing date, you'll be charged a prorated amount for the remaining days or months of your billing cycle. Adding an outlet to your store will incur additional charges to your Retail POS subscription.

If you change the type of plan your Retail POS account is on, the regular billing date will be changed to the new date when the changes were made.
