The process to correct average cost is not working

Problem

I am following the steps to correct my average cost, but the average cost is still not correct. 

Setup

  •  Retail POS for Mac or PC

Cause

  • Stock was not brought to zero at all outlets and for all variants
  • The supply price of the product is not correct 
  • Stock was not received at the correct supply price 
  • The stock order was not received 
  • Variants have a different supply price

Solution

Stock was not brought to zero at all outlets and for all variants

  • To correct your average cost, your stock at all outlets and for each variant will have to be at zero. 

The supply price of the product is not correct

  • The average cost is based on both the supply price at the time of receiving and the supply price of the product. The supply price will have to be correct before correcting average cost.

Variants have a different supply price

  • The average cost of the product will take into account the supply price of each variant.

Stock was not received at the correct supply price 

  • When you receive the stock back in through a stock order, ensure you are entering the correct supply price. This will become your new average cost. 

The stock order was not received 

  • The new average cost will not take effect until the stock order is received.
