How to set a Static IP Address for your Star LAN or WiFi receipt printers

Objective

Set up a static IP Address on your receipt printer to resolve connectivity issues

Setup

  • Retail POS for Mac or PC
  • Retail POS on iPad
  • Star TSP 100 series LAN or WiFi

Steps

Printing current network configuration

  1. Turn off the printer at the switch
  2. Hold down the feed button, then turn it back on whilst still holding down the feed button
  3. Continue to hold the feed button until the Network Configuration report prints out
  4. Confirm the printer IP address and note it down. An example IP address would be: 192.168.0.2

Setting Static IP Address

  1. Open your web browser and type in the Star printer’s IP address into the URL field
  2. Log into the Star Network Utility using these credentials; User: root, Password: public
  3. It may prompt you to change the password but this is not necessary, press cancel.
  4. On the left-hand side menu, click IP Parameters and select static. The current IP Address and subnet mask should autofill in
  5. If the current IP Address and Subnet mask do not autofill, manually type in the network configuration obtained from the printer as explained above
  6. Select Submit
  7. Select Save on the left-hand side menu
  8. Select the option Save, then click Execute
  9. The receipt printer should restart and print a new configuration report with Static next to the IP address instead of DHCP
