How do I enable/disable beeping on the Socket Mobile scanner?
Objective
Turn off or turn on beeping on the Socket Mobile scanner after scanning a barcode.
Setup
- Retail POS for Mac or PC
- Retail POS on iPad
- Socket Mobile Scanner
Steps
For Mac
- Click the Apple icon in the top right corner of your Mac screen
- Click System Preferences
- Click Bluetooth
- Click Disconnect next to the Socket Mobile Scanner
- Scan the barcode below to have the scanner beep after scanning a barcode
- Scan the barcode below to stop the scanner from beeping after scanning a barcode
- Follow the steps to reconnect your scanner to your Mac
For PC
- Open the Settings page by clicking the Windows icon and then the settings cog. Alternatively, you can search 'settings' in the bottom left search bar.
- In Settings, click Devices from the list of options.
- Click Disconnect next to the Socket Mobile Scanner
- Scan the barcode below to have the scanner beep after scanning a barcode
- Scan the barcode below to stop the scanner from beeping after scanning a barcode
- Follow the steps to reconnect your scanner to your PC
On iPad
- Tap the Settings on your iPad
- Tap Bluetooth

How do I enable Auto Mode on Socket Mobile Scanner?
Objective
To enable Auto Mode (Presentation Mode) so the scanner will enter Auto Mode when placed in Socket Mobile’s Charging Stand.
Setup
- Retail POS on iPad
- For Socket Mobile Scanner models CHS 7Qi & 7Xi
Steps
Remove the scanner from your iPad Bluetooth settings:
- Open your iPad Settings App
- Tap Bluetooth
- Tap the 'i' next to the device name
- Tap Forget device
Unpair the device and resetting to factory default:
- Press and hold on the two buttons on the scanner for 3-4 seconds until you hear three beeps
- You can print the Barcode below and scan it to reset the Barcode scanner to factory settings
Enabling Auto Mode:
- Ensure the Socket Mobile Scanner is unpaired
- Once disconnected scan this barcode to enable Auto Mode
- Once Auto Mode is enabled by scanning the barcode above reconnect the scanner to Retail POS as per the setup guide

Resolve issues with your Barcode Scanner not scanning products onto the Sell Screen
Setup
- Retail POS on iPad
- Socket Mobile Scanner 7Ci/7Qi or S700/S740
Steps
Unpair the device and reset it to factory default settings
- Press and hold on the two buttons on the scanner for 3-4 seconds until you hear three beeps
- You can print the Barcode below and scan it to reset the Barcode scanner to factory settings
Alternatively you can reset the scanner by doing the following:
Remove the scanner from your iPad Bluetooth settings
- Open your iPad Settings App
- Tap Bluetooth
- Tap the 'i' next to the device name
- Tap Forget device
Reboot your iPad
- Press and hold the power button for a few seconds
- Wait until you see Slide to Power Off appear on your screen
- Swipe the Slide to Power Off slider
- Press the power button again and wait for your device to turn on
Pair your Socket Mobile Scanner with your iPad again

- Click on Bluetooth
- Click the information button next to Socket Mobile Scanner
- Click 'Forget this Device'
- Hold the Scanner button above the power button for 3 seconds until 'Bluetooth ' flashes on the device
- Now Scan the barcode
- Re-connect the Scanner via Bluetooth
- The Scanner will show 'Connected' status
- Restart the iPad

The Socket Mobile Scanner is set to Keyboard mode.
Solution
Enable iOS mode. Print this page and scan the below barcode. The scanner will beep 3 times to confirm the mode change.
Additional Information
To bring up the keyboard on the iPad while the iPad is on Keyboard mode, double click the power button on the Socket Mobile Scanner.

Whilst many scanners may work with the Retail POS app, the only wireless standalone scanner we recommend and support is the Socket Mobile.
The other option is to use a Star mPOP which comes with a wired scanner attached, this scanner is supported by the Retail POS app via the mPOP system.
