Linking customer data between Mailchimp and Retail POS

Once Mailchimp has been connected to Retail POS, you will need to push your customer database to Mailchimp for the first time.

On the Mailchimp page in Retail POS (navigate to Setup > Apps > Mailchimp), click Push all customers to establish this link.

After your customer database has been pushed to Mailchimp for the first time, customer information will automatically one-way sync from Retail POS to Mailchimp.

What information syncs between Mailchimp and Retail POS?

After your customer database has been pushed to Mailchimp for the first time, customer information will automatically one-way sync from Retail POS to Mailchimp.

This one-way sync means that new customers should be created in Retail POS if you also wish for them to be added to Mailchimp. New customers created in Mailchimp will not sync to Retail POS.

Similarly, if you edit a customer in Retail POS it will edit the customer in Mailchimp. Customers edited in Mailchimp will not sync to Retail POS and applicable data will be over-ridden next time the customer is updated in Retail POS.

Information synced from Retail POS to Mailchimp:

  • Email
  • First name
  • Last name
  • Marketing and Promotional Email status (unsubscribed / subscribed)

Important

  • If a customer in the audience you are syncing to has the same email address as the customer you are creating in Retail POS, the customer in Mailchimp will be overwritten when the customer is created in Retail POS.
  • If there are two customers in Retail POS with the same email address, the last edited customer record will be synced to Mailchimp.
  • FREE Mailchimp plans only support up to 2,000 contacts
