What's new in Lightspeed Retail (X-Series)
Retail POS
Update
Take now and Fulfill later sales details on the payment screen
If the sale contains items to take now and fulfill later, the payment screen will show the total amount to Pay now and Pay later, as well as a banner clarifying how much payment is still required for the Take now items in the sale, helping cashiers reduce errors from manual calculations.
Update
Partial fulfillment for unfulfilled sales
Staff can now pack or fulfill individual items within an unfulfilled sale and can view all open fulfillment sales on the Fulfillments page, regardless of stock levels. This update allows you the flexibility to fulfill orders as items become available and greater visibility into order fulfillment steps.
Update
Customer import and management updates
Updates to customer importing and management include:
- Ability to import Loyalty from other systems, with a conversion wizard if the previous program used points instead of currency amounts.
- New downloadable template file for adding customers, available in English, French, and Dutch.
- Column mapping when importing a spreadsheet and improved data validation to ensure information is formatted correctly before upload.
Additionally, new fields for Tax exempt and SMS marketing opt-in on the Add customer page help you capture more information when adding customers to your database.
New
Edit Managers permission for Custom user roles
Previously restricted to Admin roles only, Custom user roles can now be given the Edit Managers permission. Roles with the permission can edit and delete Manager users.
Update
Adding photos to services
Keep track of customer items and create a visual record for service requests by attaching photos when creating or editing a service.
Update
Inventory count filter increase
When setting up a partial inventory count, you can now filter up to 250 individual SKUs. This increase allows greater flexibility when planning your partial inventory counts.

More sales records displayed in Sales history
The number of sales displayed in Sales history has been increased from 200 to 1,000 sales.
Update
API date-based versioning
The Retail API will now communicate exactly when an API version will be deprecated, creating a more predictable release schedule and simplified experience for developers. Third party applications will only have to reference a single version to access all capabilities.

Security tip of the month
Tip
Don’t let tax season become "scam season"
As you gear up for tax deadlines, remember: fraudsters are working overtime too. While you’re gathering documents, fraudsters are crafting schemes to steal your identity and hard-earned money.
Spot the red flags
- Trust your instincts, not the sender: AI-generated scams can look highly convincing. If a tax notice creates urgency or panic, pause before you act.
- Verify the source: Don’t reply, click, or engage with suspicious messages. Log in directly through the official portal (e.g., CRA or IRS) or call a verified number from the official website, not the one in the message.
- Know how governments communicate: Government agencies will not ask for sensitive personal information via email, text, or phone, nor will they threaten arrest. If you receive a request like that, do not respond or click any links.
- Be cautious of caller ID: Phone numbers can be faked to appear legitimate. Don’t rely on call display alone to verify authenticity.
- Lock down your identity: Use strong, unique passwords and enable MFA wherever possible.
