Last year we announced plans to integrate Vend into the Lightspeed brand, paving the way for a unified commerce platform under the Lightspeed brand. As part of the changes, the Vend website and Retail (X-Series) Help Center were redirected to the Lightspeed domain. The next phase will migrate the login page to the new domain.

The old login page (secure.vendhq.com/signin) will be accessible until the migration is complete, which begins on January 14, 2024. Afterwards, you will need to sign in using the new login page URL (secure.retail.lightspeed.app/signin). Learn more about the actions you need to take below.

What is a domain migration?

A domain migration is the process of updating a website’s previous domain (vendhq.com) to a new domain (lightspeed.app). During a migration, domain redirects are put in place to automatically send visitors from one web address (URL) to another. This ensures visitors who try to access the old address get automatically directed to the new one instead of seeing a 404 page (broken link).

Redirects are usually temporary, so it’s recommended to update bookmarks to the new domain as soon as possible. Learn more in the What action do I need to take? section below.

What is the new login page URL?

The current URL of the login page is secure.vendhq.com/signin.

After the domain migration, the new URL will be secure.retail.lightspeed.app/signin.

When will the domain migration happen?

The domain migration will begin on January 14, 2024. After the migration is complete, you will need to sign in using the new login page URL.

What action do I need to take?

If you only use mobile or tablet iOS / Android, you do not need to take any action.

If you use the web register in a browser, you must log in using the new login page to initiate an automatic data transfer of your product catalog to the new domain. This is required before you can start selling.

Depending on the number of products, the automatic data transfer of your product catalog to the new domain may take a few hours. We recommended logging into the new domain (retail.lightspeed.app) and initiating the data transfer outside of business hours before the migration begins on January 14, 2024. You can continue to trade using the old domain (vendhq.com) until this time. After the migration begins, you won’t be able to process a sale until the automatic data transfer is complete.

Log in to your Retail POS (X-Series) account

1. Visit the new login page (retail.lightspeed.app domain).
2. Enter your store URL and click Next.
3. Enter your username and password and click Log in.
4. If you’ve activated two-factor authentication on your account, open the authentication app on your device and enter your authentication code.

Initiating the automatic data transfer of your product catalog

Note: This does not apply if you exclusively use the mobile or tablet iOS / Android app. If you use the web register in a browser, you must log in using the new login page to initiate an automatic data transfer of your product catalog to the new domain.

Depending on the number of products, the automatic data transfer of your product catalog to the new domain may take a few hours. We recommended logging into the new domain (retail.lightspeed.app) and initiating the data transfer outside of business hours before the migration begins on January 14, 2024.

You can continue to trade using the old domain (vendhq.com) until this time. After the migration begins, you won’t be able to process a sale until the automatic data transfer is complete.

You will need to initiate an automatic data transfer of your product catalog on all registers. Larger catalogs may take a few hours to process.

To initiate an automatic data transfer of your product catalog:

1. Log in using the new login page.
2. Navigate to the Sell screen (<storename>.retail.lightspeed.app/webregister)
3. The process will initiate for you from here.

Updating your bookmarked links

If you bookmarked links to the login page, Help Center, or specific articles, the old link will still be available for now, but it’s recommended to update your bookmarked links in preparation for the domain migration.

Here’s how you can update your bookmarked links, based on the Google Chrome browser:

1. In your browser toolbar, click Bookmarks > Bookmark Manager.

   

2. Find the bookmark you want to update, click the three dots on the right, then click Edit.

   

3. In the URL field, paste in the updated URL.

   

4. Click Save to update.

Will API or app access change?

The domain migration will not affect API or other Lightspeed apps. You can continue to access these product areas in the same way you are now.

I take payments via “Other payment method”, am I affected by this change?

Lightspeed is unable to assess if your custom payment integration will work under the new domain. To test your custom integration, please log in to the new domain at https://yourstore.retail.lightspeed.app/webregister and make test payments with your custom integration. If your integration fails, please reach out to Support with the details of your test so we can assist you in troubleshooting the integration.

Avoid domain whitelisting

Whitelisting domains or cookies is a process that some merchants consider for enhanced network security. It involves allowing specific domains or cookies to bypass certain security checks and firewalls.

As our platform evolves with new domains for features and integrations, merchants should be aware that firewall adjustments can lead to operational disruptions. To ensure the best experience, we strongly advise against whitelisting domains.

If you choose to whitelist domains, ensure all paths on the listed domains, such as /*, remain accessible, as these paths undergo frequent updates to enhance user experience.
