Understanding Lightspeed Advanced Marketing

Lightspeed Advanced Marketing integrates a points-based loyalty program with SMS and email marketing to create tailored loyalty options for your customers. Lightspeed Advanced Marketing syncs seamlessly with Retail POS, allowing you to manage your customers and redeem rewards directly in Retail POS.  

Comparing Lightspeed Loyalty and Lightspeed Advanced Marketing

Lightspeed Loyalty offers you the ability to reward your customers through a cash-back system, meaning for every dollar they spend, you can reward a percentage back in dollars to spend in your store. With Lightspeed Loyalty you can’t automatically send marketing communications or award bonus points, although you can adjust loyalty balances manually.

Lightspeed Advanced Marketing offers you more options to reward your customers. With Lightspeed Advanced Marketing you can:

  • Sort and divide your customers into segments based on their spending habits.
  • Send automated email campaigns for first purchase and customers’ birthday bonuses, and send promos to customers who have not made a purchase in a set amount of time.
  • Offer referral and social media engagement bonuses for customers.
  • Set adjustable ratios for loyalty earning, for example earn 5 points for every $10 spent.
  • Set adjustable loyalty tiers for different customer groups, for example VIP customers earn a higher ratio. 
  • Schedule social media posts and track revenue in-store and online from social media campaigns.
  • Send emails with promos to customers who have abandoned online carts. 
  • Collect feedback from customers on their shopping experience.

When you integrate Lightspeed Advanced Marketing with Retail POS, it’s recommended that you disable Lightspeed Loyalty if you had previously enabled it to avoid customers’ collecting rewards in both systems. You can import existing loyalty balances into Lightspeed Advanced Marketing when you switch.

Lightspeed Advanced Marketing FAQ

  • When you connect Lightspeed Advanced Loyalty to Retail POS it becomes active immediately. If you’re switching from Lightspeed Loyalty, you’ll need to turn off Loyalty (Setup > Loyalty > Disable Loyalty) otherwise your customers will earn rewards on both systems.
  • No, you can’t print the loyalty points balance on receipts but you can look up their points balance during a sale.
  • Yes, you can send emails and SMS messages with Lightspeed Advanced Marketing. Customers must give explicit consent to receive emails and SMS messages and you need to verify your account in Marsello, which can take up to 6 weeks.
  • Yes, any customer updates you make in Retail POS automatically sync to Lightspeed Advanced Marketing.
  • To view and redeem rewards for your customers during sales on web, you must be using Chrome browser and have the Marsello for Lightspeed Chrome extension downloaded and enabled.
  • Contact Support to add Marsello discounts to Lightspeed reporting as a product. This will allow you to filter and exclude Marsello discount totals from reports.

    If you enable Marsello discounts as a product in Lightspeed reporting, regular reports will have double deductions from Marsello discount totals. To get accurate revenue figures, you must exclude Marsello discount products from other reports.
