Merchants on the Plus or Enterprise plans can use the Workflows feature. The workflows feature allows you to build efficient checkout processes that match your specific business and compliance needs. For example, you can use workflows to create business rules to customize rules that get executed at different lifecycle events on a sale in Retail POS (X-Series), or custom fields on line items to store serial numbers of the products that you sell.
Using API workflows, you can:
- Collect customer data, for example, shoe sizes, preferences, and more.
- Remind cashiers to verify each shopper's age or identity.
- Enforce custom and mandatory checkout fields.
- Automate custom printing of wristbands, drink labels, work orders, and more.
- Prompt customers to sign waivers.
- Implement custom gift card solutions.
Accessing workflows

Navigate to Setup > Workflows.
- Depending on what you'd like to access, click the Custom fields, Business rules, or Events tab.
- The pages display the list of existing workflows. Optionally, use the dropdown menus on the pages to filter and find a specific workflow.
- Optionally, you can click the button on each tab and complete the form to create a new workflow of that type.
